Scope
The project involved:
- QuikDeck® suspended platform to provide high-capacity access with minimal suspension points
- Supplementary scaffolding tied into the QuikDeck system
- Full in-house engineering and design services to ensure fast, safe, and efficient installation
- Turnkey solution including assembly and hoisting for blasting and painting works
Challenge
Installing a suspended platform beneath a large-span bridge presents significant logistical and technical challenges. Key challenges included:
- Safely starting the platform in the middle of the span
- Minimizing attachment points while maintaining structural stability
- Providing full encapsulation to prevent environmental contamination
- Reducing installation time compared with traditional scaffolding systems
To overcome these challenges, a cantilevered scaffold was installed on the bridge deck to act as a loading bay and support a hanging HAKI staircase. The staircase then secured the first bay of QuikDeck, allowing the platform to be expanded safely beneath the bridge.
