Lyndon Scaffolding black hat supervisor, Gavin Jones has been recognised for his commitment to safety by leading main contractor Kier Construction – receiving a ‘Safety Champion Award’ from Kier’s Western and Wales team, for his outstanding safety on the Croesyceiliog School project in Cwmbran South Wales.
Lyndon Scaffolding’s Regional SHEQ Manager, Mark Collinson said: “Gavin was dismantling and re-erecting floor slab edge protection on the perimeter of a steel frame building for the new school. He adopted a system of work whereby he installed the new edge protection inboard of the steels prior to dismantling the old edge protection. Despite this requiring a bit more setting up and additional equipment it meant that the scaffolders were protected from the risk of falls at all times and that other trades could continue to work in the area with only small local exclusion zones required as the work progressed.
