Edinburgh Futures Institute (EFI) | Scaffolding

A Brand Access Solutions team of 25+ scaffolders have been working on the exciting new Edinburgh Futures Institute (EFI) project on the Quartermile, on Lauriston Place, in the historic Scottish city centre.

Edinburgh EFI

Scope

Since April 2019, Brand Access Solution’s Edinburgh depot operatives have been providing internal and external access and scaffolding solutions for building refurbishment by main contractor, Balfour Beatty Construction Ltd, with project due for completion by April 2021.

Challenge

Construction of the scaffolding and access has mainly been with Brand Access Solutions extensive stock of CUPLOK® modular system, alongside bespoke tube and fitting designs – up to 20m in height in the main building and six wards, with a 45m bespoke clock tower scaffold structure and temporary roofing for weather protection. Everything has been designed in-house by Brand Access Solutions engineers.

The University of Edinburgh is set to relocate the EFI into its permanent home in the Old Royal Infirmary – offering 21,300 m² of floor space, including more than 6,000 m² of new construction, in a project worth more than £1.5M. The new building will be accessible to staff, students and the general public – ensuring it lives up to the motto inscribed in stone on the building’s wall: ‘Patet Omnibus’ – meaning ‘open to all.’

Let's do something great on your next project.
