Paddington Green, London | Hybrid Access for Residential Re-Cladding

Integrated scaffolding, construction hoists and mast climbing platforms for residential façade refurbishment

The re-cladding of four residential buildings at Paddington Green in London required a comprehensive access solution combining scaffolding, construction hoists and mast climbing work platforms. With buildings reaching up to 13 storeys, a 140-metre pavement gantry and approximately 1,388 tonnes of scaffolding material, the project brought together all three core access disciplines of Brand Access Solutions.

Scope

Brand Access Solutions, formerly Lyndon SGB, was appointed by main contractor Clearline to provide an integrated access package for a major residential re-cladding project at Paddington Green in London.

The £1.2 million contract covered three 13-storey residential blocks and one 11-storey block. The scope included in-house designed tube-and-fitting scaffolding, stair towers, MASTCLIMBERS™ and construction hoists, together with a 140-metre-long pavement gantry along Hermitage Street.

More than 30 Brand Access Solutions operatives were scheduled to work on site over a one-year period, with approximately 1,388 tonnes of scaffolding material required for the project.

Challenge

The refurbishment of four multi-storey residential buildings required different access systems to support the re-cladding works across multiple elevations and working levels.

The project involved coordinating conventional scaffolding, mechanical hoists and mast climbing work platforms within a single access package. Each system had to be integrated into the overall access arrangement while accommodating the requirements of the ongoing façade works.

The 140-metre pavement gantry along Hermitage Street added another significant element to the temporary works, requiring coordination between the access structures and the surrounding street environment.

As the re-cladding project progressed, the access arrangements also needed to be adapted to changing construction requirements.

Performance

Brand Access Solutions combined its scaffolding, hoist and mast climbing capabilities to deliver an integrated hybrid access package for the Paddington Green development.

The project marked the company's first hybrid access assignment in London involving all three core access disciplines on a single construction site.

The in-house designed scaffolding and stair towers were complemented by mechanical hoists and MASTCLIMBERS™, providing different forms of access for the residential re-cladding works.

Close collaboration with Clearline enabled Brand Access Solutions to coordinate and adapt the access arrangements as the project evolved. According to the company's project team, the simultaneous provision of different access systems supported productivity on site and received positive feedback from the client.

Let's do something great on your next project.
